Introduction
Before joining Michigan State University:
I received my BS degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences in June 2013 from LUMS School of Science and Engineering, a leading research university in Pakistan. My final year project was on Outlier/Event Detection, Identification and Localization in Wireless Sensor Networks during which I worked as an Undergradute Research Assistant at Advanced Communications Research Laboratory (AdCom), LUMS under the supervision of Dr. Ijaz Haider Naqvi (PhD, INSA, France). After my graduation, I worked as a Research Associate in the same lab on the "Design and Implementation of a Wireless Sensor Mote and Network using Commercial Off-the-Shelf Components" and setting up of a complete Wireless Sensor Network capable of Event Detection, Identification and Localization, during which my literature review encompasses issues like Data Collection and In-Network Aggregation, Time Synchronization, Geographical and Energy aware routing and MAC algorithms, Target tracking and localization techniques, etc. Side by side, I also worked as a Senior Research Assistant in an ICT R&D funded project named SAHSE (Safety Assurance in High Stress Environments) in which we built a Wireless Sensor Network based test bed for the monitoring of harsh environments like underground mines.
My current research experience in the primary area of Wireless Communication Systems and Networks is the energy and cost efficient design of protocols, algorithms and hardware in Wireless AdHoc/Sensor Networks with applications in Cyber Physical Systems. My broad interests include Cyber Physical Systems, Digital and Embedded Systems Design, Wireless Communications and Networks, Cognitive Radio Networks, Information Theory, Machine Learning, Signal Processing and Controls, Computer Vision, Computer Networks and Security, Internet of Things and Smart Grids.
