Coursework
LUMS School of Science and Engineering being the top ranked Pakistani research university among institutions, that offer degrees in Business Management and Information Technology in South Asia, offers world class faculty in all science disciplines. During our freshman year at LUMS SSE we were introduced to a broad spectrum of basic science courses lead by people like Dr. Amer Iqbal (PhD Theoretical Physics, MIT), Dr. Babar Qureshi (PhD, Theoretical Physics Syracuse University), Pervez Hoodbhoy (PhD Nuclear Physics, MIT), Dr. Arif Zaman (PhD, Stanford), Dr. Sabieh Anwar (PhD Physics , Oxford University), Dr. Falak Sher (PhD Materials Chemistry, Cambridge) and Dr. Ghayoor Abbas (PhD Chemistry, Michigan State) who are renowned for amazing works in their fields. At the end of a breathtaking freshman year I opted for Electrical Engineering as my major and Computed Sciences as minor. The Computer Sciences and Electrical Engineering faculty included Dr. Asad Abidi (PhD, UC Berkeley), Dr. Arif Zaman, Dr. Sohaib Ahmed Khan (PhD Computer Vision, University of Central Florida), Dr. Zartash Uzmi (PhD Telecom Networks, Stanford), Dr. Shahid Masud (PhD VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Queen's University UK), Dr. Ihsan Qazi (PhD, University of Pittsburgh), Dr. Umar Saif (Post Doctorate Computer Sciences, MIT), Dr. Waqas Majeed (PhD Bio-Engineering, Georgia Tech), Dr. Abubakr Muhammad (PhD, Georgia Tech), Dr. Momin Uppal (PhD, Texas A&M), Dr. Ijaz Haider Naqvi (Wireless Communications, INSA France), Nauman Zaffar (MS, Pennsylvania State), Dr. Adeel Pasha (PhD, Embedded Systems University of Rennes-1, France), Dr. Naveed-ul-Hassan (PhD, Wireless Communications Supelec, France). Although my specialization was in Communication Systems but realizing the multidisciplinary nature of modern research I also immersed myself deep in other streams by taking key courses in the fields of Power Systems, Feedback and Control theory, Embedded Systems and Computer Sciences. That's why my credit hours (152) exceeded my graduation requirements (130) by 22 (7 extra courses). More information about EE faculty can be found here. Following is the catalogue of the courses I took/audited during my undergrad @LUMS.
